School Uniforms in Australia: A Brief on the Types

From the time we know it, schools are known worldwide to inculcate discipline in a child. The idea of school uniforms was adopted to remove the various barriers that divide a society - rich or poor, white or black etc. This was practised to ensure that children feel alike. Following the tradition, there are a number of schools across the globe where school uniforms are a part of the school's dress code. This blog is a brief on the various types of school uniforms in Australia:

School shirts: The top is common for both girls and boys. Mostly used in white colour, the shirt is a collared garment with a pocket on the left side and a vertical opening with buttons. Some schools include neckties as part of their dress code, while some doesn't. In summers, short sleeves are permitted however, full sleeves are preferred by parents for their kids during winters.

School jumpers: These are commonly known as sweaters and vary in colours.

The school has a particular hue for the jumper, chosen as part of the dress code.
This garment is also common for girls and boys, both. Jumpers are available in round neck, V-neck, high-necks, half zips, etc.

School bottoms: The bottom wear differs for girls and boys. Girls have skirts or shorts as part of their bottom wear while boys have pants or shorts. Girls are allowed to wear pleated skirts up to a minimum length with white shirt or top. Similarly, boys are required to wear pants or shorts with white shirt. Track pants and sports shorts can be worn by both boys and girls for extra activities after school.
