School
uniforms in Australia are an important part of everyone’s
childhood. In the current scenario, parents enforce strict rules to
ensure that their kids are disciplined, imposing dress code in the
schools is an important step toward achieving the same.
A strain on parents
& guardians: Parents with not that affluential background are
often worried & stressed about the type of social treatment that
their child will receive in school. In many cases, kids are judged on
the types of clothes that they wear to school. With uniforms,
this problem has been curbed to a great extent. As everyone in the
school dresses in school uniforms, there is a sense of equality among
all kids.
Student conflicts:
Clothes are treated as a status symbol in many schools. Many students
who cannot dress as per the latest fashion or who cannot afford
branded clothing are treated as social outcasts and made fun of.
Making school uniforms
compulsory puts an end to bullying of every kind.
Well-organized
morning routine: Teenagers want to present themselves as fashion
icons and due to this they spend a good amount of time to get ready
for school. With a fixed dress code, this problem is reduced to a
great extent. As students are left with no other choice, other than
the school uniform, this reduces the amount of time and preparation
and most importantly stress, to get ready for school.
Uniforms give the
students a better opportunity to express themselves. They create an
identity for themselves through their personality and achievements
rather than their clothing style. When the child is not worried about
what they are wearing to school and competing with their friends,
they can be more relaxed and focused on their studies.
