Different Types of Reflective Mining Work Wear



Mining work wear is an important part of the mining industry. High-visibility mining work wear is an important requisite of the industry. This type of work wear is important to improve the visibility of the mining workers while working on the surface as well as underground mining environment. The primary objective of launching these high visibility mining wear in the industry is to minimize the risk of injuries to workers that happen in different mining environment. Also, wearing these uniforms will help in reducing the number of incidents which majorly involve vehicles and pedestrians workers of the mining environment.




There are different types of high visibility safety apparel for the mining workforce. Let’s take a look:

1) Class 2: Class 2 mining uniforms provide complete coverage between the waist and the neck. The apparel bear reflective stripe on a fluorescent background material. The highly-flashy garments are mostly orange-red, red or yellow-green in colour. Workers working at underground mines or mining plants, who work during day-time, should be issued a Class 2 safety apparel. Also, mining employees working in weather conditions where visibility can be affected or performing tasks that may divert attention, or work in conditions where backgrounds can be blurry, should adhere to wearing these high visibility safety apparel.


2) Class 3: These uniforms ideally provide a greater level of visibility to the mining employees. Class 3 garments are generally advised for workers working in situations with extremely low lights. Class 3 apparel feature all requirements of the Class 2 garments. The addition to these Class 3 garments is that they have a retro-reflective stripping on each limb. Reflective stripes on the legs and arms provide visible clues about the motion and direction of the garment wearer.
